Whats is CBD?
We have all heard the words: CBD, hemp, cannabis, or THC flying around at conversations with family or friends; but do you really know the difference between each?
For starters, CBD is not marijuana. Marijuana is not cannabidiols. Hemp is not CBD… You get the picture. So, what is CBD?
CBD or Cannabidiol is a natural component found in the flower of cannabis, a plant that has been used for thousands of years for its therapeutic properties. A non-addictive element, CBD is one of the hundreds Phytocannabinoids – which are chemicals found and extracted from the cannabis plant.
THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is another Phytocannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. THC is the element that causes the famous high marijuana is known for.
So, both are found in the same plant, but both are different elements with different attributes. - Think of it as two different wine types coming from the same grapes or vineyard.
They both have therapeutic benefits, yet they both act different in our bodies and brain.
Now that we got that down, let’s bring the term Hemp into the scenario. Hemp is used as the term to describe when the Cannabis plant contains less 0.3% or less of THC. Marijuana is the term used when the Cannabis plant contains more than 0.3% THC (by dry weight) and can have euphoric effects.
